How to start a conversation with a stranger when you have no ideas
Published: · Updated:
The hardest part of talking to a stranger is the first line. The easiest way to begin is not with “how are you?” but with something specific: the mood of the moment, a short observation about yourself, or a direct “hi, what would you like to talk about?”. A partner in an anonymous chat is usually already in the mood to talk — they chose to come here themselves, so awkward pauses happen less often than you might think.
If the conversation still doesn't click, there is no need to force it. Anonroom has a “Next” button for this — you can start over with a different person, with no explanations and no awkwardness.
